The United Nations Security Council
VYMUN JR.
Established in 1945, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the UN's six principal committees, tasked with maintaining international peace and security. It approves changes to the UN Charter and recommends new member admissions to the General Assembly. The UNSC identifies acts of aggression and threats to peace, deploying UN peacekeepers globally to address insurgencies and stabilize countries. Notably, the five permanent members (P5) can veto any decision except procedural ones, adding to the council's dynamic nature.
UNSC will follow crisis MUN Rules of Procedure and is designed for delegates of all experience levels. Position papers are not mandatory for this committee, but must be completed in order to be considered for an award.
