What is VYMUN?
Founded in 2005, Vancouver Youth Model United Nations was created with a single purpose: to introduce younger delegates to the world of Model United Nations. Over the past 21 years, VYMUN has grown into a conference that challenges students to engage with real global issues in a meaningful, supportive, and educational environment.
Over the course of the weekend, delegates develop critical skills in diplomacy, public speaking, and negotiation — all while deepening their understanding of international relations and world affairs. Whether it is your first time in a committee room or you are a seasoned delegate, VYMUN is designed to push you further.

Our Mission
At VYMUN, we believe that the next generation of leaders learns best by doing. Our mission is to create a space where students of all experience levels can step into the shoes of world leaders, wrestle with complex global challenges, and emerge more confident, informed, and capable. We are committed to fostering an inclusive conference culture — one where every delegate feels empowered to speak up, take risks, and grow.

Beginner-Focused
From day one, VYMUN was built with inexperienced delegates in mind. We know that walking into your first committee room can be intimidating, and that is why we have revolved VYMUN around catering to beginners. Our staff team has invested deeply in making sure no delegate feels lost, left behind, or afraid to speak.
VYMUN will offer dedicated delegate workshops to get you comfortable with committee procedure before debate begins, and staff are trained to walk delegates through rules of procedure in every committee. Furthermore, Secretariat will always be available, staffing a help desk throughout the entire conference. Additional fun activities, such as MUN bingo cards will further make participation exciting and accessible, and a full collection of delegate resources is available to help you research, prepare, and perform your best.
Delegate Social
To kick off the conference, all delegates are invited to our Delegate Social on Friday evening. More than just an icebreaker, the social is a chance to connect with fellow delegates from schools across the region before the real debate begins. The evening will feature live music, game rooms, a photo booth, and much more!
Venue
VYMUN 2026 will be held at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre at the University of British Columbia, a modern, spacious venue set in the heart of one of Canada's most beautiful campuses. The building features fifteen meeting spaces, with exterior rooms offering floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the terminus of University Boulevard, a lively square home to the AMS Student Nest, Wesbrook Mall, an extensive public transit network, and a variety of dining options. The conference runs from October 23–25, 2026, and is primarily a day conference.
For delegates and schools looking to stay nearby, Gage Suites and West Coast Suites are two UBC hotels located within a five-minute walk from the Alumni Centre: details can be found here. Hotels across Vancouver, including Downtown, are also available for those traveling from further away.
