NATO

North Atlantic Treaty Organization

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an intergovernmental military alliance founded in 1949, bringing together member states from North America and Europe under a shared commitment to collective defence and security. Built on the principle that an attack against one member is an attack against all, NATO has served as a cornerstone of international security for decades, adapting its mandate and capabilities in response to an ever-evolving global landscape. Beyond its core defence function, the alliance plays an active role in crisis management, cooperative security, and fostering stability in regions far beyond its borders.

Today, NATO faces a wide range of challenges that extend well beyond conventional military threats, including cybersecurity, hybrid warfare, terrorism, and the geopolitical pressures that come with an increasingly multipolar world. Member states must constantly balance national interests with collective obligations, making the alliance a forum where diplomacy and defence strategy are deeply intertwined.

This committee is well suited for delegates interested in international security, defence policy, and geopolitical strategy. Position papers are mandatory for this committee and must be completed in order to be considered for an award.
