Following Willy Wonka's unexplained disappearance on August 30, 2026, and his subsequent declaration of death in absentia, the Fictional Crisis Committee, convened in Room LL112 at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, faces mounting uncertainty over the succession of the famously eccentric chocolatier and founder of Wonka Industries. Delegates representing key figures in the Wonka universe, including Mayor Cavedish, Lucy Loompa, and Charlie Bucket, are grappling with several interconnected challenges, including Hugo Hamilton's position, allegations of a mole within the FFC, and the security of Wonka Industries' closely guarded recipes. Tensions have escalated further following confirmation that several Oompa-Loompas have been kidnapped, prompting debate over whether the factory’s secret recipes should be used as leverage in negotiations, with many delegates emphasizing that human lives must take precedence over protecting trade secrets. As deliberations continue, the council faces the challenge of reaching an agreement that addresses the immediate threats facing the factory while determining the future of Wonka Industries.
In an interview with Reuters, Nyah Bates, representing Mayor Cavendish, outlined their proposed next steps for resolving the crisis, explored their position on the hostage negotiations, and discussed security, suspicion, and cooperation without assuming the mole's identity:
Reuters: Given the current developments surrounding Wonka Industries, what do you believe the council's immediate next step should be, and why?
Mayor Cavendish: Our next step must be to prioritize the lives of the Oompa-Loompas over the preservation of the recipes. While the recipes are valuable leverage for Wonka Industries, we must consider the rights of the Oompa-Loompas and the law enforcement officers who went after them. They are currently being held hostage, which is an incredibly dangerous situation. Therefore, we are prepared to surrender the recipes in exchange for their lives, as we believe this is the most ethical course of action.
Reuters: With several Oompa-Loompas reportedly kidnapped, do you believe their safe return should take priority over protecting Wonka Industries' secret recipes? What action would you support?”
Mayor Cavendish: I 100% believe that human and Oompa-Loompa life should be prioritized over corporate recipes. Recipes can always be recreated, and new ideas can be developed, but lives cannot be replaced. That is why it is absolutely imperative that the Oompa-Loompas are rescued immediately.
Reuters: How should the council address the allegations of a mole while maintaining trust between delegations and preventing further threats to Wonka Industries?
Mayor Cavendish: There is currently a solution circulating that involves the use of a truth serum. We are considering utilizing this serum to determine the exact identity of the mole. We have already narrowed our suspects down to four specific delegates, all of whom are previous golden ticket holders from Willy Wonka's succession trial. We will continue to develop and refine this truth serum until it is completely accurate so that we can determine beyond a reasonable doubt who the mole is and officially expel them from the committee.
Mayor Cavendish has outlined her position on the hostage negotiations and the investigation into the alleged mole. Reuters will continue to follow developments in the Fictional Crisis Committee as delegates work toward a resolution. Meanwhile, the council faces mounting pressure to secure the Oompa-Loompas' release, address suspicions of internal betrayal, and determine the future of Wonka Industries.
