Established in 2006, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, was created to preserve universal human rights globally. Convening triennially, its 47 members address violations of human rights around the world and make recommendations on said violations. Thus far, it has worked with over 100 countries to ensure legal standards are upheld and refugees are able to exercise their basic rights. In 136 countries it has provided life-saving assistance, shelter, food, water, and medical attention to those forced to leave their homes due to conflict and persecution. UNHRC has established many investigations into global conflicts in Burundi, The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Syria, Sri Lanka, Gaza, and Lebannon.

UNHRC follows standard rules of procedure and is designed for delegates of any experience level seeking a traditional MUN experience. Position papers are mandatory for this committee and must be completed in order to be considered for an award.
