International Science Council

ISC

The International Science Council (ISC) was established in 2018 through the merger of two major scientific bodies: the International Council for Science (ICSU), founded in 1931, and the International Social Science Council (ISSC), founded in 1952. The ISC aims to promote international scientific collaboration, uphold scientific freedom and responsibility, and provide authoritative scientific advice on issues of global importance. With members from over 140 countries, the ISC promotes international scientific cooperation and provides expert advice on global challenges: it addresses a wide range of topics including climate change, public health, outer space, and the development of AI. The ISC works to uphold scientific freedom and responsibility while ensuring that science remains a trusted and inclusive part of society.

The ISC is designed for delegates of all experience levels. Position papers are not mandatory for this committee, but must be completed in order to be considered for an award.
