Humanity’s last hope ‘World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Division” also known as WICKED is the final salvation from the Flare. The Flare is a rapid-spreading virus causing Earth’s last survivors to turn into aggressive Cranks. Many world governments supported WICKED in the construction of dozens of mazes worldwide to find a cure. During the night, dangerous grievers which are half-mechanical droids patrol the maze. There are 4 large doors that open every night at dawn and close at dusk. A single elevator brings supplies and a new glader each month. However, just recently a great tragedy occurred when the elevator delivered a final glader and the doors were permanently left open. To accumulate more strain, the box that delivers weapons also ceased to function.
Delegates debate survival tactics and replenishing techniques to fuel a dwindling food supply. The Gladers have been reduced to living their lives in fear of attack as Minho describes the situation, “The Glade is not safe because doors are open, Grievers can launch an attack at any time.”
First attempting to create underground bunkers or have rotating guards, delegates are stopped by the unavailable resources. Later attempting to find a solution rather than arguing impossible topics, delegates moved on to survival tactics when entering the maze became an apparent option.
Newt, one of the delegates says, “I propose that we could move as a group and band all our citizens together. We have low manpower together so we should stick together and watch each other's back. If some come near we can stick as a group and fight them off together.”
Terissa, also one of the delegates, then executes this motion saying, “I disagree with Newt, We can set up guards 24/7 around the walls and all the exits that could alert us at night or during the day or whenever a griever decides to wander into the Glade.”
Recent news of gladers stealing food breaks through; unable to share rations making the dwindling food source a more pressing ordeal as Newt puts it, “I do not think we should do any investigation into it whatsoever. We're already out of time within the Glade and people are only stealing because they're scared of what's going to happen to them if they don't get the right food…”
The difficult living conditions have pushed the delegates to consider drastic measures. Terissa attempts to stanch this issue by proposing, “for those who disagree with me try taste testing the Griever. Do you guys want to starve? Is this what you guys are trying to get here? Do you guys want to make it unlivable in the Glade? Because we need to figure out a way to be able to stay in the Glade while minimizing as many casualties as possible and being safe. I also believe that we should investigate not only where our own garden was, but also around in the forest to see if we can find any animals that we can Farm like in a Minecraft way..”
Many would consider life outside the maze hell, although to put it in perspective, while the Flame plagues Earthens outside of the maze, inside the maze Gladers' drastic conditions have forced them into truthfully considering the option of consuming half-droid-resembling creatures.
